Creating Balance through what’s Opposite
The definition of balance: equal and opposite. If I have 5 lbs on one side of the scale I need 5 lbs (equal weight) on the opposite side to balance. Most of our body (and lifestyle) habits tend to favor one extreme or another. We are not balanced. Imbalance - is the source of pain and disease. Physical pain is created by not having enough movement options" - “My body can only do this one thing”. Interestingly, options share the latin root with the opposite.
I discovered through my journey of self healing that in order to actually heal, I often had to try things that felt "opposite" to what seemed "natural". Natural simply means familiar. By definition we must do things that feel unfamiliar - or unnatural to really change or transform.
Our goal of healing and transformation should be to find and practice the “opposite” to the habits we have. Doing the opposite creates options. Having options creates choices. Having choices defines freedom. And freedom is liberty we long for, from anything that causes pain, restricts and binds us. Look for one thing in your life you want to change…see what you do naturally- then do the opposite. If you want a different body - do what is opposite from everything out there. DO GST!
FASCIA THE NEXT FITNESS INNOVATION
There are constant innovations coming to market in almost every industry. Innovation improves our lives. I find it discouraging that there hasn't been a significant innovation in health and wellness arguably since Pilates in the turn of the century ( and it took almost 60 years to come to market). By innovation I mean something new that offers something entirely different, progressive, revolutionary that stands out as forward and expanding. Innovations contribute new insight and technology to elevates understanding, methods and practices changing what we do for the better. Why does the health and wellness industry keep rebranding old for new: diets, workouts, new ways to spin old things to make you think we doing something different. Our health and bodies show lack of preventative innovation- new solutions to old problems. Granted innovation is really quite hard to find but especially in my industry. Fascia excites me because it can encourage my industry to finally think outside of the box and innovate - fascia will do for the health and wellness what Galileo did for the planet -to change our world from flat to round and every science this affects.
